Prior comment is correct. In colonial teimes, a stonewall was made with either whisky,rum or apple brandy
‘Stonewalls’ were being drunk long before Stonewall Jackson was even thought of. Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys used to knock them back like soda pop at the Catamount Tavern before, during, and after the American Revolution. I think it was the same drink.
