Make a Simple Syrup

Here is an easy way to layer a cocktail such as a Pousse Cafe.

Difficulty Level: Easy
Time Required: 5 minutes

Here's How:
1. Put one cup of water in a small saucepan.
2. Add two cups of sugar.
3. Heat to a boil while stirring.
4. Reduce heat and continue to stir until the sugar dissolves.
5. Cool to room temperature.
6. Find a clean container that will hold at least a cup and a half.
7. Using a funnel, pour liquid into container.
8. Seal and store in refrigerator indefinitely.
9. Use whenever a recipe calls for simple sugar or simple syrup.

Tips:
1. Combine with Bitters and swirl around empty glass first when preparing an Old Fashioned.
2. To make larger quantities use the ratio of 2:1 for sugar and water.
